Choosing the best university to study at when leaving school

During the final year of school or college the process of applying to university is uppermost in many students’ minds. Teachers and college lecturers can be extremely helpful in guiding you to the best courses on offer but the choice of where you will continue your studies is very much up to personal preference and the reputation of certain universities.

The location of the university may be important to some students. Perhaps you want to study at a campus situated near a coastal town so that your free time can be spent on the beach or alternatively you may want to attend a university located in a city such as Manchester or Birmingham so that you have greater access to a vibrant night life and a good choice of clubs and bars.

Dependant upon the particular course you are enrolling on you may choose a university that specialises in certain subjects. Career advisers in the school should be able to give guidance as to the best universities to apply to if you have a definite career path in mind. Be aware that often the popular choices set high entry qualification levels and are unlikely to accept applications from students who are not predicted to achieve these results.
