Welcome

Is this your first year in teaching?

Many teachers are looking forward to being able to hopefully get back to some sort of normal in September as many of the covid restrictions have been lifted. If you have just qualified as a teacher, then this may be the first term you are going to teach.

Many teachers actually leave the profession within their first year of teaching and this is qite strange considering they may have had to train for three or four years in order to get the qualifications needed to become a teacher.

After doing some extensive research, it seems that this is mostly due to the immense pressure they are under and often lack of support they feel they have from the school and governing bodies. You may have heard people say that teachers have it easy, working nine till three, Monday to Friday and long school holidays, but what they may not see is the additional work that goes on behind the scenes.

In your first year try and take it slowly. Make sure you allocate your time and be organised to ensure that you still have downtime. Maybe try and get all your planning and marking done at school so when you come home you can switch off and do not have to think about school work.
