Avoid burnout and take a break

In these fast paced times in which we live it is tempting to push ourselves to the limit where work is concerned as we try to do more hours in our current role to get more money or strive to get that promotion with a higher wage. For some people, the prospect of burn out is very real and although earning a living to support yourself and your family is important your own mental health is important too.

Structuring your workday so that you allow for some down-time is vital to protect yourself and your mental wellbeing. It could be as simple as getting out of the office at lunch time for a walk or arranging to finish early on a Friday so that you can meet up with friends for a drink after work. These small changes can make a big difference to your emotional state and so are worthwhile trying to implement.

Taking a longer holiday from work where you are not contacted by your workplace but can totally switch off is essential. It does not necessarily mean going away from home on holiday, although this is ideal, it could be just spending time at home relaxing or doing jobs that you want to get done the main thing is that it is different and is a break from work.
