With so many children having almost a year away from normal school learning, it is obvious that this may well of had an impact on their education. Many parents are teachers are concerned as to what impact school closures have had on their child and what it means for their future. Although there has no doubt been an impact on children’s education, most children are in exactly the same situation.
The government are currently looking at ways in which they can help students recover from this period but the options may not be suitable for all. Some of the options on the table include, lengthening the school day, shortening holidays or running catch up lessons throughout summer. It may be that one or some of these options are bought in to play later on in the year, but is it the right solution? Although education is very important, so is the health and mental well being of the children. Many people fear for the social aspect that they children have had to miss out on over the past 12 months and feel that this is as important if not more than the educational aspect. Making them miss out on more holidays and time to play with friends may not be the best idea.
